I meant to write this post on New Year’s Day.
I didn’t.
However, I’ve written plenty of other things, things that will make you Laugh, Think, and Cry (and updated my menu to include these categories–look up!).
And Eat, don’t forget eating. I will eventually “turn you” with all my vegangelism. Bwa ha ha!
Luckily, the Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved prompted me to follow though on my plans and write this post.
Here are my award-worthy, HIGH-quality, iPhone photos:

On New Year’s Eve, my husband and I realized we both have rocks given to us by people whose energy we no longer want in our lives.
We decided to inscribe the rocks with things we don’t want to take forward into 2013: Illness, Lack of Sleep, Boredom, Loneliness, Frustration, Depression, Not Speaking Up, and the memories of certain people who shall not be named.
We bundled up the Little Guy, and drove down to the river-front.
My husband started to feel a little ambivalent about throwing them into the river, so I threw mine over the edge with all my might:

He threw his in. It went farther.

We felt a little lighter already.

Then we got the Little Guy home.

As we left, my husband asked me if I do things just to put them in the blog.
I replied, “No, but when we do something, I think about whether it SHOULD BE in the blog.”
Sometimes I’m not sure where the boundaries are between my self and my iSelf.
How much of your life do you share in your blog?
Where do you draw the line?
What a wonderful ritual!
I think about the line I draw often when blogging! I seem to have written it in pencil because it keeps moving! LOL
That made me laugh!
LOL
I love this! What a great idea to throw the rocks in that way. I may steal this for next year! You totally fooled me, too. It didn’t look fake at all. What a nice view of the city you had.
I asked that same question in one of my posts about what and how much to share…I tend to ride the surface and every and then dip down a little deeper. Hmm…I think I’m still finding that out.
That is so funny, I can almost hear your conversation. I do watch for entertaining bits of daily life to blog about. Well, now my husband (looking for equal air time and I guess, a different place to voice HIS ideas) has just started his own blog. Your husband can too…! 🙂 Congrats on getting rid of the old stuff symbolically to help ring in the new.
That’s great!
I’ve been encouraging my husband to do it, too. He was an English major and loves to write.
Thank you. That old stuff sank like, well, like a stone.
I’ve been writing about my family for 20 years, off and on. I’ve never written anything that was intentionally hurtful or never-going-to-live-down embarrassing. (A little embarrassing’s okay…) When I’ve been unsure, I say, “I’d like to write about X. Are you okay with that?” Usually they are. But, you bet, when something happens, I think, “I am so going to write about this!” And they know it too.
I wish it gave me as much control as “Santa’s watching.”
I love this idea! I know I have a lot of rocks that need throwing.
Do it!
What a great idea! And I love that you had him take the picture of you pretending to throw the rocks.
His was pretending to.
The captions really were our conversation! Except for Baby Boo’s part.
But, I bet he was thinking it.
XOXO
